  • 1 tbsp olive oil (if baking)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Toppings:

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of Monterey Jack & cheddar)
  • ½ cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • ¼ cup sour cream or ranch dressing
  • ¼ cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp jalapeños, sliced (optional)
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Fries:

    • Baking Method: Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss frozen fries with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
    • Air-Fryer Method: Cook fries at 400°F (200°C) for 15-18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway.
    • Frying Method: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Fry fries in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  • Melt the Cheese:

    • Arrange cooked fries on a baking sheet.
    • Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and bake for 5 minutes at 400°F (200°C), or until melted.
  • Add the Toppings:

    • Remove from oven and top with bacon, sour cream, green onions, and jalapeños.
    • Drizzle with hot sauce if desired.
