Description

This Seven-Layer Taco Salad is a colorful, crowd-pleasing dish packed with layers of seasoned beef, crisp lettuce, creamy dressing, and bold Tex-Mex flavors. It’s perfect for parties, potlucks, or family dinners, easy to make and always a hit.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cups romaine lettuce (chopped)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/2 cup black olives (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup green onions (chopped)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning (for dressing)
  • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Beef

In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat, then add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes and let cool.

Step 2: Make the Dressing

In a bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, and taco seasoning until smooth.

Step 3: Layer the Salad

In a large glass bowl, layer ingredients in this order:
Beef → lettuce → tomatoes → cheese → green onions → olives.

Step 4: Add Dressing

Spread the dressing evenly on top as the final layer.

Step 5: Finish and Serve

Top with crushed tortilla chips before serving. Chill if desired.

Notes

  • Let beef cool before layering to avoid soggy lettuce
  • Use a clear bowl for a beautiful layered look
  • Keep dressing as the top layer to seal freshness
  • Add chips right before serving to keep them crunchy
  • Chill for better flavor blending
